Job summary

The University of New Mexico’s Center for Advanced Research Computing seeks a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher to lead development of an agentic AI platform as part of a federally funded project. You will design and build the project’s AI stack, serve open-weight LLMs at scale, and orchestrate multi-institution collaboration.

You will direct a distributed engineering effort, mentor graduate researchers, and contribute to open-source pipelines, with emphasis on reproducible research and FAIR

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, AI, ML, or related field, completed by appointment date.
• Demonstrated research in ML, AI, distributed systems, or research software.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Rust, Go, C/C++, JavaScript/TypeScript, or R.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and evaluation of the agentic AI platform and LLM serving.
• Direct and coordinate a distributed engineering effort with partner institutions.
• Benchmark performance on GPU systems and document results.
• Publish open-access papers and disseminate results via public code and reproducible pipelines.
• Contribute to security reviews and training workshops.
