Morishita Lab for Developing Minds at the Friedman Brain Institute, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow to explore neural circuit mechanisms underlying cognitive development and their dysregulation in psychiatric disorders.
The successful candidate will investigate how neuromodulatory systems shape frontal cortical circuits involved in cognitive control.
The Morishita Lab for Developing Minds at the Friedman Brain Institute, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York City (www.morishita-lab.com), is seeking an ambitious and motivated postdoctoral fellow to investigate the neural circuit mechanisms underlying cognitive development and their dysregulation in psychiatric disorders.
The successful candidate will investigate how neuromodulatory systems shape the maturation and function of frontal cortical circuits underlying cognitive control. The project will combine circuit-specific manipulation and monitoring of neural activity in behaving mice, with opportunities to integrate in vivo electrophysiology, optogenetics, imaging, and computational approaches. This work builds on our recent discoveries of frontal–sensory circuit mechanisms underlying cognitive control (Nature Communications, 2020; Neuron, 2021; Science Advances, 2021 and 2024; bioRxiv, 2026), offering opportunities to pursue innovative questions and develop new research directions.
