Job summary

Scripps Research in La Jolla, CA invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in the Jardine Lab to develop countermeasures against botulinum neurotoxin exposure. The project focuses on engineering yeast display monobody libraries and identifying high-affinity binders that neutralize BoNT.

You will collaborate with Calibr, publish findings, and contribute to training in a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant scientific field with a strong publication record.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with experience preparing reports and presenting findings.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and respect for colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Design, construct, and validate yeast display monobody libraries.
• Conduct discovery campaigns against BoNTs to identify broadly neutralizing binders.
• Produce and characterize lead monobody candidates.
• Measure binding affinity and specificity of selected candidates.
• Evaluate biochemical and biophysical properties (polyreactivity, SEC, stability).
• Establish, optimize, and perform functional assays for BoNT neutralization.
• Affinity mature lead candidates to improve potency and breadth.
• Analyze data and interpret results to overcome technical challenges.
• Prepare manuscripts and present findings at major conferences.
