Postdoctoral Associate – Dairy Science and Veterinary Medicine

The laboratory of Dr. Matthias Wieland at the Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences, Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate to advance research on optimizing dry‑off strategies in dairy cows. The successful candidate will design, coordinate, and conduct field studies on dairy farms, prepare manuscripts for high‑impact journals, and present findings at local, national, and international venues.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement research projects related to dry‑off management on dairy farms
• Conduct field studies involving cattle at Cornell’s dairy units and commercial farms in upstate New York
• Analyze data and present results through manuscripts, posters, and presentations
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of academics, clinicians, and students at Cornell

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (PhD, DVM, or equivalent) in veterinary, animal, or biological sciences (desired but not required)
• Strong publication record and experience with data science and statistical software (SAS, JMP, R, or similar)
• Comfortable working with large livestock on a dairy farm setting

Pay Range:

$62,232.00 – $80,000.00 depending on qualifications and experience (maximum $88,745.00).
