Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist in Multimodal AI to advance AI-driven drug discovery. You will work at the intersection of machine learning, computational biology, and biomedical data to generate actionable insights for target discovery and translational biology.

The role requires strong AI/ML expertise, a PhD in a quantitative field, and ability to integrate imaging, omics, literature, and molecular data to support biomedical research.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, CS, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Math, Statistics, EE, or related field.
• Strong expertise in machine learning, deep learning, foundation modeling, or related areas.
• Hands-on experience with Python and AI/ML frameworks like PyTorch, JAX, Hugging Face, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Working knowledge of biology, disease biology, or drug discovery, with ability to connect computa- tional findings to biology.
• Experience analyzing at least one biomedical modality (transcriptomics, proteomics, imaging, etc.).
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex findings.

Responsibilities

• Develop multimodal AI/ML methods, including foundation models and predictive/generative approaches.
• Design computational approaches to generate biologically meaningful hypotheses and target prioritization.
• Collaborate with biologists, chemists, and data scientists to translate questions into scalable AI solutions.
• Create workflows that integrate diverse evidence sources for transparent decision-making.
• Contribute to reusable AI platforms and data foundations for enterprise-scale applications.
• Develop benchmarking strategies and evaluate model generalizability and biological relevance.
• Lead end-to-end research activities: study design, coding, model development, and reporting.
• Disseminate findings through internal communications and publications.
