Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to develop radiation-resilient scintillator materials for fusion energy and national security. Work spans experimental materials science and computational modeling, with opportunities to publish, present at conferences, and collaborate across LANL.

The role involves ion irradiation experiments, advanced characterization, and multiscale modeling to establish predictive structure–property relationships for scintillator

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field completed within the last five years.
• Experience with crystal growth and oxide materials processing.
• Experience with XRD and optical/electronic property measurements.
• Excellent writing and communication skills; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Develop next-generation radiation-resilient scintillator materials.
• Combine experimental and computational methods to understand defect formation and degradation.
• Perform ion irradiation experiments and advanced characterization.
• Publish results and present at conferences; collaborate across groups.
