Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to work on multidisciplinary experimental/theoretical research focused on optical nanomaterials and chemical synthesis. The role involves creating hybrid materials, quantum dot/nanoplatelet synthesis, and collaboration with a diverse team.

The successful candidate will publish in peer-reviewed journals and present findings internationally. Requirements include a Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in inorganic, organic or materials chemistry or related field completed within the last 5 years or soon to be completed.
• Strong chemical synthesis using air-sensitive handling techniques.
• Experience with nanocrystal synthesis, manipulation and surface modification.
• Proven publication record and strong written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and discover new optical nanomaterials and hybrid materials with emergent functionality.
• Synthesize 0- and 2-D semiconductor quantum dots and nanoplates; couple to molecular species with unpaired spins.
• Collaborate with Ph.D. staff, postdocs and students to advance research and publish results.
