Job summary

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is seeking an Experimental Physicist Postdoctoral Fellow to advance a distributed quantum computing effort. You will develop optical interconnects between qubit platforms and help demonstrate remote entanglement and teleportation across atomic and solid-state systems.

You will build and operate two experimental platforms, connect them via light-matter interfaces, and collaborate with ESnet, AMCR, and NERSC divisions to scale heterogeneous qubit technologies.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in quantum science or related field.
• Strong experimental background in qubit platforms.
• Experience with optical interconnects or quantum networking is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate experimental platforms for laser-cooled neutral atoms and solid-state qubits.
• Develop optical interconnects and light-mmatter interfaces for quantum networking.
• Collaborate with theory and engineering teams to scale distributed quantum computing.
• Analyze experimental data with numerical and computational techniques.
