Job summary

The Bao Laboratory in the Department of Molecular Physiology and Biological Physics at the University of Virginia School of Medicine seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support research in membrane biology of cell communication.

Using biochemical reconstitution, cell biology, and structural approaches, the lab investigates how membranes and membrane proteins mediate exocytosis, receptor signaling, and cell death, with interests in therapeutic development.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant field.
• Experience in biochemistry, structural biology, nanomedicine or cell biology.
• Background in cryoEM/ET, protein secretion, or nanomedicine preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support research in membrane biology of cell communication.
• Engage in biochemical reconstitution, cell biology, and structural approaches to study membranes and membrane proteins.
• Contribute to projects related to exocytosis, receptor signaling, and cell death with translational relevance.
