Job summary

Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC, invites applications for a NIH-funded postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Dr. Bumsoo Ahn to study mitochondrial bioenergetics and muscle adaptation in aging and cancer.

The fellow will lead research integrating cell culture, in vivo mouse models, functional phenotyping, and mechanistic bioenergetic analyses, with strong mentorship toward career development and opportunities for first-author publications.

Qualifications

• PhD required in a relevant field or closely related discipline.
• Experience with cell culture, animal handling, dissections, and molecular methods (qRT-PCR, Western blot).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement interventions that modulate mitochondrial bioenergetics and redox balance.
• Conduct cell culture, rodent behavioral and functional assessments.
• Perform mitochondrial bioenergetic assessments (Seahorse or Oroboros).
• Coordinate redox and proteomic analyses.
• Analyze data with a multidisciplinary team.
• Contribute to manuscript preparation and grant development.
