Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) invites applications for Postdoctoral Experimental Physicists to independently plan and execute laser-plasma experiments in support of the National Ignition Facility and OMEGA laser-matter research.

You will design and field optical, x-ray, and nuclear diagnostics; analyze data; and present findings to DOE and conference audiences. A PhD and strong communication skills are required; collaboration across teams is essential.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant physics field.
• Experience with laser-plasma interactions or related areas.
• Experience with diagnostics (x-ray/optical/nuclear) and data analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Research, design and execute x-ray and laser-driven experiments at NIF, OMEGA, and JLF.
• Design, field, and coordinate optical, x-ray and nuclear diagnostics.
• Prepare and present technical reports and publications for internal and external audiences.
• Collaborate with scientists to achieve research objectives.
• Coordinate team resources and plan experimental campaigns.
• Pursue independent research interests and engage with a wide range of scientists.
