Job summary

The Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY) invites applications for Postdoctoral Researchers at CCNY to advance AI-driven experimental design and autonomous laboratory workflows. You will develop algorithms and robotic pipelines to design, execute, and refine multi-step experiments in a closed-loop, high‑throughput setting.

Collaborate with a wide network of researchers across national labs and industry partners.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in CS/ML/Robotics or related field is required.
Experience in AI/ML for autonomous decision making and lab automation is essential.
Experience with hardware platforms and cloud orchestration is a plus.
Ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Commitment to responsible research practices and reproducibility.

Responsibilities

Research integration of AI-driven experimental design with automated materials synthesis.
Develop algorithms for AI agents to design and synthesize bio-inspired materials.
Develop autonomous workflows coordinating robots and instruments in closed-loop experimentation.
Publish findings in conferences/journals and collaborate with the PCL network.
Mentor graduate students and researchers in the AI-BIOME program.
Collaborate with partners including Brookhaven National Laboratory, NVIDIA, Mozilla AI and others.
Other duties as assigned.
