Job summary

RFCUNY Research Foundation of the City University of New York seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to develop autonomous laboratory technologies for biomaterials discovery. The role combines embedded systems, robotics, instrumentation, software engineering, and AI-driven workflows across imaging and surface science platforms.

You will collaborate with leading researchers and national labs, publish findings, and contribute to cloud-connected infrastructure that accelerates discovery.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in EE/CE/Mech or closely related field; strong experimental background.
• Experience in laboratory automation and instrument control.
• Embedded software and hardware development experience.
• Familiarity with motion control and sensors; multiple interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Design and build motorized sample stages for automated experiments.
• Develop embedded hardware and firmware for precise motion control.
• Create software frameworks for instrument control and data acquisition.
• Integrate microscopes and surface science equipment into automation workflows.
• Develop cloud-enabled lab workflows and remote-control capabilities.
