Job summary

Royal Mail is recruiting a Postal Delivery Driver (Postie) for Barry Delivery Office on a fixed-term contract of 6 months. The role is 30 hours per week across a 5-day rota, including some weekends and one in four Sundays.

You will deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot, meet customers, and work outdoors in all weather. A full UK manual driving licence is required and you must pass a driving assessment.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence required (max 6 penalty points).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, lift 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and well-organised.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.Working hours: 30hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday

- Sunday –07:00/21:00* Supporting two separate shifts between 07:00

- 15:00 or 13:00

- 21:00 for Letter Deliveries & Parcel Deliveries

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work one in four Sundays, between 10:00

- 16:00 atCardiff Delivery Office, CF11 8TA.

About you

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
