Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Weymouth for a fixed-term contract of 6 months. The role runs a 37-hour week across five days, with rotating shifts from 07:30 to 18:00 and weekend work, including Sundays at times. Training and a uniform are provided, along with a red van for deliveries.

The job involves outdoor work, lifting 10kg+ mailbags, and driving a Royal Mail van daily. You will deliver letters and parcels and serve the local community with a reliable service.

Job type: Fixed Termcontract, 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.Working hours: 37hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday to Sunday – supporting two separate shifts between 07:30/18:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays at Dorchester Delivery Office.

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
