Job description

Overtown Youth Center is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Post-Secondary Success Coach to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for a motivated, relationship-driven professional who is passionate about supporting young adults ages 18–25 as they persist through college, vocational training, certification programs, workforce pathways, military service, and career advancement opportunities. As the Post-Secondary Success Coach, you will provide individualized coaching, case management, and resource navigation support to participants enrolled in OYC Miami’s post-secondary success initiatives.

Through a structured and high-touch coaching model, the Post-Secondary Success Coach will work closely with participants to identify goals, address barriers, strengthen academic and career readiness skills, and support persistence toward educational and workforce attainment milestones. Participants will receive guidance in academic progress monitoring, financial aid and college persistence support, career planning, and connection to wraparound services that promote stability and success. The role also includes conducting needs assessments, facilitating one-on-one coaching sessions, and coordinating exposure and workforce development opportunities aligned with participant goals.

In this role, you will help create a supportive, accountable, and empowering environment that fosters persistence, leadership development, self-sufficiency, and personal growth. Rather than relying on traditional short-term programming, Overtown Youth Center utilizes a long-term engagement model designed to support participants through transitions into and throughout post-secondary education, workforce training, and employment.

Who we are:

Overtown Youth Center is committed to enriching the lives of youth and families by offering opportunities for growth, development, and success. We provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where students are encouraged to explore their talents, learn new skills, and express themselves. Our focus is on empowering youth to achieve their full potential through various educational programs, including the arts.

Why Join Us:
  • A supportive work environment where creativity and professional development are encouraged.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.
  • A collaborative team that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Requirements
What you would do:
  • Provide individualized coaching, advising, and case management support to young adults ages 18–25 enrolled in OYC Miami’s post-secondary success initiatives.
  • Conduct participant assessments and assist in developing individualized education, career, and life success plans.
  • Facilitate one-on-one and small-group coaching sessions focused on college persistence, career advancement, workforce readiness, financial wellness, and goal attainment.
  • Support participants with college persistence, financial aid renewal, scholarship applications, vocational/certification program participation, and career pathway planning.
  • Assist participants in navigating academic, financial, housing, transportation, childcare, mental health, and employment-related barriers impacting persistence and success.
  • Promote and support participation in internships, apprenticeships, credentialing programs, workforce training, leadership development activities, and career exposure experiences.
  • Monitor and track participant engagement, persistence milestones, academic progress, employment outcomes, and postsecondary attainment indicators.
  • Coordinate and facilitate workshops focused on career readiness, professionalism, resume development, interviewing skills, workplace communication, financial literacy, and leadership development.
  • Coordinate workforce exposure opportunities including employer engagement activities, networking events, job shadowing, and career panels.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with colleges, vocational institutions, employers, workforce agencies, and community organizations to support participant success.
  • Maintain consistent communication and engagement with participants to encourage persistence, accountability, and goal completion.
  • Connect participants to wraparound support services including housing, transportation, food assistance, counseling, childcare resources, and emergency support services.
  • Provide mentorship, encouragement, and ongoing follow-up support to participants throughout their post-secondary and career journey.
  • Maintain accurate participant records, case notes, progress documentation, and outcome tracking in alignment with organizational and grant requirements.
  • Collaborate with OYC staff, colleges, workforce partners, and community agencies to ensure coordinated service delivery and participant support.
Who we’re looking for:
