Job summary

AmeriCorps & Senior Corps in the United States is seeking a dedicated member to support youth career readiness, financial literacy, and college access services. You will mentor students, coordinate college tours and events, and provide tutoring and career planning guidance to help youth succeed in post-secondary pathways.

The role emphasizes hands-on coaching, teamwork with program staff, and reporting on student progress to enhance community outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience leading or mentoring youth or volunteers.
• Ability to present information clearly and engage diverse audiences.
• Ability to plan and coordinate activities and events.
• Strong interpersonal skills and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate college and career workshops and job readiness training (resume building, mock interviews, career exploration).
• Coordinate local college tours, job fairs, and youth conferences.
• Lead bi-weekly financial literacy lessons and activities (budgeting, savings).
• Provide daily academic support and tutoring to students (1:1 or small groups).
• Develop and monitor individual career plans for students and document progress.
• Meet with Program Coordinator bi-weekly to review student progress and member performance.

Job description

OYC Miami program is designed to assist students with obtaining employment, provide financial coaching, assist students with applying for college, vocational school and or scholarships as well as provide ACT/SAT preparation support. The overall goal is to address economic disparities in our community by ensuring youth learn the hard and soft skills needed for employment in their chosen careers and or have all the resources needed to do succeed in a post-secondary institution. Students are paired with a Success Coach for individualize success planning and mentorship.

Member Duties :

• Facilitate college and career workshops that include job readiness training ( i.e., resume building, mock interviews, career exploration track
• Coordinate and schedule local college tours, job fair,s and youth conferences
• Facilitation of bi-weekly financial literacy lessons and activities (e.g., budgeting, savings, etc.)
• Facilitation of daily academic support activities, including 1:1 or small group homework ( 8-10 students), providing group and individual tutoring monthly
• Develop a career plan for students during the college and career session. Monitor the progress of the career plan for the cohort. Career plans will be documented in the student's electronic file (i.e., within Neworg).
• Meet with Program Coordinator bi-weekly to provide student progress and member performance
