Job summary

MetroHealth is seeking an experienced RN for the Critical Care Step-Down Unit (7 West) in Ohio. The role involves caring for high-acuity patients on a 72-hour biweekly full-time schedule with rotating weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities include EKG interpretation, central line care, ventilatory support, and bedside procedures while coordinating with PCNAs, interns, and providers. A licensed Ohio RN with BLS and ACLS is required; BSN is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare providers or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Current ACLS certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Nurse on the Critical Care Step-Down unit (7 West) providing care for patients with CHF, COPD, DKA and sepsis.
• Interpret EKGs and manage telemetry monitoring.
• Administer medications and support complex airway/ventilator-related care as needed.
• Collaborate with PCNAs, interns, providers, and PT/OT to coordinate care.

Primary Patient Population:

• Congestive Heart Failure
• COPD
• DKA
• Sepsis

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• EKG interpretation
• Central Line care
• Rescue Bi-pap, High Flow Oxygen, Trach/Vents,
• Assist with bedside procedures (endoscopies, bronchoscopies)
• Critical thinking, delegating, time management

Personnel RN will work with:

• Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, PT, OT

Number of beds on unit:24 beds

Required Qualifications:
