Job summary

MetroHealth is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join its Critical Care Step Down Unit, 7 West, in Columbus. The role focuses on high-acuity medical-surgical patients with congestive heart failure, COPD, DKA and sepsis, supported by advanced telemetry and technology.

Responsibilities include EKG interpretation, central line care, ventilator support, and bedside procedures. You will work with PCNAs, interns, and Providers in a collaborative environment offering tuition reimbursement and

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program or awaiting accreditation.
• Current Registered Nurse license in Ohio.
• BLS certification for healthcare providers.
• ACLS certification or within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care on the Critical Care Step Down unit (7 West) with a 24-bed capacity.
• Use EKG interpretation and central line care; manage ventilator and oxygen support when needed.
• Collaborate with PCNAs, interns, providers, PT/OT to coordinate patient care.
• Monitor telemetry and assist with bedside procedures and urgent interventions.

Primary Patient Population:

• Congestive Heart Failure
• COPD
• DKA
• Sepsis

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• EKG interpretation
• Central Line care
• Rescue Bi-pap, High Flow Oxygen, Trach/Vents,
• Assist with bedside procedures (endoscopies, bronchoscopies)
• Critical thinking, delegating, time management

Personnel RN will work with:

• Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, PT, OT

Number of beds on unit:24 beds

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).

• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Current ACLS certification or obtained within 6 months of hire
