The Aydin Lab in the Department of Molecular Pathobiology at the New York University College of Dentistry seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to join our team in New York City. Our laboratory investigates the underlying mechanisms of cell-cell communication within the nervous system. To drive this innovative research, the lab utilizes a multidisciplinary approach that combines biochemistry, stem cell tools, model organisms, and both molecular and functional imaging techniques. In this role, the scholar will be deeply engaged in tissue culture experiments, taking responsibility for maintaining stem cell lines, growing both adherent and suspension cells, and working with lentivirus or similar transduction-based systems. The successful candidate will also have opportunities to learn state-of-the-art electron cryo- microscopy technologies and computational approaches to study the molecular dynamics of macromolecules. Beyond active bench work, the position requires rigorous data analysis and high-quality recordkeeping. The postdoctoral scholar will also play a key role in maintaining general laboratory operations, assist in training new lab members, and earn opportunities to disseminate their research findings with authorship credit.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $67,000 to $70,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
We are seeking a dedicated researcher who holds a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or a closely related field.
Essential qualifications for this role include strong analytical and wet bench laboratory skills, the ability to follow detailed experimental protocols, efficient time management, and excellent written and oral communication. We also highly value candidates who possess hands-on experience with tissue and cellular methods, particularly stem cell and general tissue culture. Additional desirable skills include proficiency in molecular genetics, biochemistry, and computational biology, along with a strong scientific background or a demonstrable interest in neurobiology and the molecular mechanisms of disease.
