Post-Doctoral Associate at Waksman Institute of Microbiology
Responsible for setting up experimental systems to study type VI CRISPR-Cas defense mechanisms and analyzing collateral RNA damage using RNA-sequencing.
The postdoc will design and optimize experiments, particularly for Next Generation Sequencing workflows, exercising independent judgment in data analysis, troubleshooting, protocol adjustments, and ensuring high-quality data for publication.
This position involves complex experimental research on RNA-targeting CRISPR-Cas systems, requiring technical expertise and independent problem-solving. The scope includes project-specific work, collaboration, mentoring, and contributions to publications, conferences, and grant proposals.
PhD in Microbiology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or related field by start date. Experience in microbial genetics, molecular cloning, protein expression, DNA and RNA analysis, and protein-nucleic acid interactions. Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
Experience in Next Generation Sequencing, library preparation, and Illumina sequencing is highly preferred.
