Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Public Administration, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of post‑award grants management and/or higher‑ed finance experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of sponsored award lifecycles, 2 CFR 200, and GAAP.
  • Advanced Excel and comfort with ERP and e‑procurement/expense systems.
  • Excellent judgment, organization, and communication; ability to manage multiple deadlines and stakeholders.
  • At the university's discretion, education/experience prerequisites may be exempted with an equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate award set‑up: budgets, speed types/indexes, categories, and project periods.
  • Monitor monthly financial performance; reconcile actuals to budget and prepare burn‑rate projections.
  • Review allowability/allocability under Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) and sponsor terms; resolve issues before posting.
  • Manage cost share and subawards (encumbrances, invoices, compliance docs).
  • Coordinate sponsor invoicing and financial reporting timelines with central research finance; prepare PI rollups.
  • Lead effort certification tracking; prompt PIs to certify on schedule; maintain backups.
  • Process budget revisions, no‑cost extensions, cost transfers, and rebudgeting; maintain audit‑ready files.
  • Oversee closeouts: final reports, expenditure review, subaward close, asset disposition, record retention.
  • Oversee purchasing, reimbursements, travel, and vendor set‑ups following policies.
  • Track student/hourly and GRA/GTA payroll funding sources; coordinate with HR/payroll.
  • Prepare monthly budget‑to‑actuals; recommend adjustments and transfers.
  • Standardize templates and SOPs; train staff and research teams on best practices.
  • Ensure adherence to policies; surface risks to DoA and implement internal controls.
