Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree is required, ideally in business, finance, accounting or an equivalent field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of grants-related experience in a university setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word) and solid knowledge of accounting basics.
  • Ability to understand and implement university and funding agency requirements.
  • Very detail-oriented, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, and a commitment to financial integrity and confidentiality.
  • Familiarity with university policies and procedures regarding grant applications.
  • Familiarity with university personnel and fiscal management policies, and with financial system applications such as Princeton ERA, Labor Accounting, Information Warehouse, PeopleSoft PRIME, or prior experience at another university.
  • Biomedical or biology grants-related experience in a university setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Pre‑award duties: Proposal preparation and internal submission of potential NJ ACTS applications, coordinating with the Princeton PI, Manager of Research and Administration, and various central and administrative departments.
  • Pre‑award duties: Preparing budgets, justifications, data tables, and administrative elements of the proposal and assembling proposal files per agency guidelines for submission in Princeton ERA to the ORPA.
  • Pre‑award duties: Coordinating NJ ACTS funding opportunities, reviewing the RFP for university compliance, and assisting with proposal submission for internal applicants.
  • Pre‑award duties: Setting up and initiating annual awards for all funding mechanisms, pilot awards, and trainee appointments.
  • Post‑award duties: Coordinating daily communication with Rutgers, the Princeton PI, Manager of Research and Administration, participating departments, SRA, and ORPA.
  • Post‑award duties: Coordinating annual progress report elements for all funding mechanisms, reviewing NIH biosketches and other support for compliance.
  • Post‑award duties: Monitoring all financial expenditures across various departments for compliance with university and sponsor guidelines.
  • Post‑award duties: Facilitating financial reporting and close‑out requirements for awards as needed.
  • Other duties: Maintaining awareness and understanding of university and sponsor policies to ensure compliance.
