Responsibilities

  • Manufacturing Order Management: Develop and generate all MOs for slit coils and finished goods through MRP software; verify MOs are issued with required raw materials and adjust BOMs as needed.
  • Production Scheduling and Workflow Optimization: Create and update daily production schedules; generate all production work orders; monitor and troubleshoot MRP data for accuracy.
  • Production Monitoring and Analysis: Collect and reconcile downtime data; monitor daily production efficiency and trends; track daily shipment data for alignment with schedules.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Support day-to-day production scheduling; assist with planning and resource allocation; backup Sr Production Planner.
  • Collaboration and Support: Work with production teams to meet deadlines and resolve challenges; ensure raw materials support plant goals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies; collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement enhancements.

Overview

Position Summary

The Production Planning Specialist ensures optimized production by managing manufacturing orders (MOs), optimizing production workflows through production schedules, planning production to fulfil customer orders on or before request date, and maintaining accurate inventory and MRP data. This role involves generating production schedules and manufacturing orders, analyzing data for continuous improvement, and ensuring raw material and finished goods production aligns with plant goals. The Production Planning Specialist also serves as a direct backup to the Senior Production Planner and contributes to achieving production efficiency by supporting day-to-day scheduling and troubleshooting issues.

    • Develop and generate all MOs for slit coils and finished goods through MRP software.
    • Confirm and complete the status of all MOs to maintain accurate records.
    • Verify all MOs are fully issued with the required raw materials and adjust Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure accurate inventory issuance.
    • Analyze data from MRP systems to ensure optimal production workflows and resolve discrepancies.

    Production Scheduling and Workflow Optimization

    • Create and update daily production schedules to support plant goals.
    • Develop and backfill by generating all production work orders for material through MRP software.
    • Monitor and analyze MRP data to ensure accuracy and troubleshoot issues to improve data quality and production performance.
    • Optimize production workflows to meet critical deadlines while maintaining efficiency.

    Production Monitoring and Analysis

    • Collect and reconcile production downtime data against system records.
    • Monitor and report on production efficiency daily, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
    • Track and update daily shipment data to ensure timely delivery and alignment with production schedules

    Scheduling and Coordination

    • Support day-to-day production scheduling to optimize manufacturing workflow.
    • Assist with planning and resource allocation for production activities.
    • Act as a direct backup for the Sr Production Planner, handling scheduling and coordination in their absence.

    Collaboration and Support

    • Collaborate with production teams to meet critical deadlines and resolve challenges.
    • Ensure raw material and production performance supports plant goals.

    Continuous Improvement

    • Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address production challenges and enhance overall performance.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • 2–4 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or a related manufacturing role.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and inventory management software.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
