  • 3+ years of production planning, scheduling, or materials planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with MRP/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and scheduling tools.
  • Strong proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas) and experience generating planning reports.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally with operations, procurement, and sales teams.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain production schedules that align with demand forecasts and business priorities.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Procurement, Engineering, and Production to ensure materials, tooling, and labor are available to meet scheduled runs.
  • Manage master production schedule (MPS) and materials requirements planning (MRP) processes, including order releases, rescheduling, and backlog management.
  • Monitor production progress and KPI performance (on-time delivery, throughput, yield, inventory turns), and take corrective actions to address variances.
  • Resolve production conflicts and bottlenecks by prioritizing orders, reallocating capacity, and coordinating overtime or subcontracting when necessary.
  • Communicate schedule changes and status updates to stakeholders, including daily production teams and senior management.
  • Optimize inventory levels through safety stock analysis, lead-time reduction initiatives, and collaboration with procurement.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma) to improve scheduling efficiency, reduce cycle times, and eliminate waste.
  • Maintain accurate planning documentation and generate regular reports and forecasts for management review.

Position Overview

The Manufacturing Production Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules to meet customer demand, optimize capacity, and ensure on-time delivery.   • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and terminology; experience in make-to-stock, make-to-order, or assemble-to-order environments.
  • Experience or knowledge of Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement methodologies, and capacity planning is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the core skills: planner responsibilities, detailed scheduling, and practical manufacturing knowledge.
