Job summary

Toast is seeking a Product Designer for the Point of Sale team. You will own the end-to-end design of POS experiences across terminal and handheld surfaces, translating complex restaurant workflows into fast, intuitive interfaces used by servers and staff.

Collaborate with research, product, and engineering to balance constraints with user needs, delivering polished, edge-case aware journeys that unlock speed and reliability on a busy floor.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design for POS experiences from discovery to high-fidelity execution.
• Translate complex workflows (orders, modifications, payments, splits, voids) into fast, learnable UX.
• Design for high-pressure restaurant environments with time-sensitive decisions.
• Partner with product, engineering, and research to realize POS capabilities across surfaces.
• Create polished artifacts considering edge cases, hardware contexts, and service styles.
• Use prototypes and storytelling to align stakeholders and communicate tradeoffs.
• Advocate for server/front-of-house perspectives to keep speed and reliability intact.
• Contribute to design critiques and integrate AI tools to accelerate exploration.
