Job summary

Apex Companies is seeking a Transportation Civil Engineer to join our Portland, Oregon team. You will design and oversee roadway projects, collaborating with engineers, PMs, and staff across disciplines to deliver safe, cost-efficient infrastructure.

The role requires a Civil/Transportation Engineering degree, PE license in OR/WA (or within 6 months), and 5+ years of design experience. Proficiency with CAD tools and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering.
• PE license in OR/WA or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• 5+ years of design experience.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering with focus on roadway design.
• Proficient with MS Office and CAD software; roadway CAD and modeling experience required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment across disciplines.
• Experience in a Consulting Firm or Municipal Engineering Department.
• Familiarity with local development codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage moderate to large-scale roadway design projects.
• Perform design tasks for state and local public works projects.
• Self-manage tasks and coordinate with project managers.
• Mentor junior staff and lead delivery of projects.
• Coordinate with subconsultants and keep projects on schedule and budget.
• Prepare PS&E documents and write technical memos.
