Job summary

The American Heart Association in Portland, Oregon seeks an intern to support our Oregon & SW Washington fundraising campaigns. You'll help drive engagement, assist with logistics, and contribute to life-saving initiatives while gaining hands-on nonprofit experience.

This internship offers a flexible 20-25 hour work week, access to Heart U training, and opportunities to collaborate with Development and Operations teams on campaigns, events, and supporter communications.

Qualifications

• Seniors or grad students pursuing a degree in business, communications, event planning, or non-profit management.
• Comfort with vendor outreach (phone and email) to donors/vendors.
• Experience or interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising.
• Experience in event planning for non-profit or for-profit organizations.
• Strong communication with leaders, volunteers and staff; proficient with social media.

Responsibilities

• Assist with developing and implementing fundraising activities, logistics and administrative support for the Oregon & SW Washington market.
• Support fundraising campaigns with Development and Operations teams.
• Assist with pre-campaign planning, day-of event execution and post-campaign wrap-up.
• Conduct external calls and emails to donors, volunteers, and third-party vendors.
• Work with event support systems to manage data entry and run reports.
• Develop and update marketing materials for campaigns (save-the-dates, invitations, social posts).
• Assist with volunteer management including meetings with external stakeholders (in-person and virtual).
• Conduct prospect research to generate new leads for fundraising campaigns.
