Job summary

NewEdge Capital Group in New York seeks an Associate to support the Principal and Portfolio Strategy. You will guide investment strategy, set asset allocation targets for equity and fixed income models, and oversee day‑to‑day trading for roughly 70 families.

The role emphasizes trading, liquidity management, and portfolio construction. You will collaborate with Relationship Managers to understand cash needs, risk tolerance, and investment appetite, and help evaluate private fund offerings.

Qualifications

• 5 years in private wealth, family office, or institutional portfolio management, with preferred trading experience
• Genuine interest in investing and markets
• Working knowledge of rebalancing, tax‑aware trading, and cash management
• Strong Excel skills
• Attention to detail, comfort with volume, ownership, clear communication
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field

Responsibilities

• Build investment proposals with PowerPoint for prospects and client reviews, ensuring accuracy of numbers and statements
• Prepare talking points and backup for the Principal and Advisors, join client meetings when asked
• Trade and rebalance to model targets on Schwab and Fidelity with tax-aware lot selection and wash-sale awareness
• Forecast liquidity for calls, distributions, taxes, and spending to ensure cash for near-term needs
• Translate each family’s risk tolerance into implementable portfolio constraints
• Prepare trades for review (about 99% are reviewed) and support the Principal’s investment work
• Support diligence on private funds (PE, real estate, private credit, hedge funds) and recommend commitment sizing for illiquid investments
• Handle complex structures across trusts, LLCs, and multi-EIN family entities
• Monitor drift, reconcile positions, document decisions, and escalate exceptions early
• System Experience: FactSet, Proprietary Portfolio Rebalancer, Orion/Addepar, Schwab, Fidelity, Excel, PowerPoint, Word
