GEM, an independent investment management firm, seeks a Portfolio Strategy Associate in the Office of the CIO to help shape portfolio construction, asset allocation, and risk management. Working directly with the CIO, you will develop analytical insights and support advanced portfolio analytics.

The role emphasizes intellectual curiosity, data-driven decision making, and collaboration across teams to advance GEM's investment process and use of AI tools.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of investment experience in hedge funds, multi-strategy platforms, asset managers, or OCIO contexts.
• Proficiency with Python, SQL and Excel; strong numerical and analytical abilities.
• Solid understanding of institutional portfolio construction, asset allocation, and capital markets.
• Ability to synthesize complex information and present quantitative concepts clearly.
• Strong communication skills and intellectual curiosity to deepen investment knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Develop forward-looking capital market assumptions for strategic decisions.
• Design and run optimization frameworks, scenario analyses, and stress tests.
• Perform time series analysis and quantitative research to identify trends and opportunities.
• Produce analyses for the CIO, Investment Committee, and client teams.
• Build and maintain risk analytics infrastructure and AI-enabled tools.
