Related Affordable Housing in Oakland, CA is seeking a dependable Porter to help maintain cleanliness and safety across the community's common areas and grounds.

Under the Maintenance Supervisor, you will perform light maintenance, restock supplies, and assist with seasonal tasks, while upholding Teamsters CBA guidelines and a strong resident-focused service mindset.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of janitorial, groundskeeping, cleaning, or porter experience in residential or commercial settings.
• Snow removal and landscaping experience a plus.
• Comfortable working with and around cleaning agents and equipment.
• Ability to complete daily assignments with minimal supervision.
• Strong time management skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Interact with residents to ensure needs are met and complete requests promptly.
• Daily pickup of grounds and common areas.
• Clean and maintain lobby, hallways, restrooms, elevators, stairs, and parking areas.
• Maintain floors, vacuum carpets, wash and wax surfaces, clean grout.
• Wash walls, doors, and windows in shared areas.
• Replace light bulbs in common lighting fixtures as needed.
• Empty trash and transport waste to disposal area.
• Monitor and restock cleaning supplies to keep inventory.

Responsibilities

Are you someone who takes pride in creating clean, welcoming spaces for others? As a Porter, you’ll be essential to the daily upkeep and appearance of our community located in Oakland, CA Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of the building’s common areas and grounds contributing to a safe, well-maintained, and inviting environment for all residents and visitors.

In this role, you’ll play a vital part in the resident experience by maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across all shared spaces. If you’re dependable, detail-oriented, and ready to be a key part of a supportive team, we’d love to hear from you.

This position does not have supervisory authority and does not hire, discipline, evaluate, or otherwise exercise independent judgment over employees. All duties are performed in strict accordance with the applicable Teamsters Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Complete requests in a timely manner and interact with residents to ensure their needs are met.
• Pick up grounds and all common areas daily
• Clean and maintain all common areas, including front lobby, hallways, restrooms, elevators, stairways, and parking areas.
• Maintain floors, vacuum carpets and rugs, wash and wax hard surfaces, and clean tile grout.
• Wash walls, doors, and windows in shared areas.
• Replace light bulbs in common area lighting fixtures as needed.
• Ensure all trash receptacles are emptied and waste is transported to the designated disposal area.
• Monitor and restock sanitary and cleaning supplies to maintain proper inventory levels.
• Assist with light maintenance duties such as replacing air filters, minor touch-ups, and basic repairs.
• Support seasonal upkeep tasks, including snow removal and grounds maintenance.
• Assist in inventory control of janitorial tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Maintain a professional appearance and represent the community with a positive and courteous attitude.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION

• $17/ hour - $20 / hour
• Local 388 Benefits
• This position is Non-Exempt, meaning eligible for overtime pay
