Job summary

Kith Women's Cafe in New York is seeking a Porter to support both Front of House and Back of House operations. The role focuses on keeping the venue clean, organized and safe, while working with the Management team to complete tasks efficiently and uphold guest and staff area standards.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year in Porter/Dishwasher roles, is flexible for evenings/weekends, and holds a valid Food Handler Certificate.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience as a Porter or Dishwasher.
• 6 months+ custodial/cleaning experience preferred.
• 6 months+ in Food & Beverage industry preferred.
• Valid Food Handler Certificate or ServSafe Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of back-of-house and front-of-house areas.
• Clean, sweep, and mop floors in both FOH and BOH areas.
• Operate and maintain the dishwash area following food safety standards.
• Follow sanitation standards and change sanitizer buckets as required.
• Wash and disinfect appliances, display cases, surfaces, floors, and walls.
• Receive, organize, FIFO deliveries; manage dry storage, walk-in cooler, and freezer.
• Report shortages or delivery issues to the MOD on duty.
• Collect and dispose of all trash promptly.
• Monitor restroom cleanliness and replenish supplies.
• Maintain full stock of ingredients and supplies across venues.

Compensation: $19.00-$21.00/hr

Position Summary

The Porter is an essential member of the Food & Beverage team, supporting both Front of House and Back of House operations to maintain a clean, organized, hygienic, and safe environment. The Porter works closely with the Management team to complete assigned and pending tasks efficiently, while ensuring all guest and staff areas consistently meet company standards.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of back-of-house and front-of-house areas
• Clean, sweep, and mop both back-of-house and front-of-house floors
• Operate and maintain the dishwash area in a clean and organized manner by following food safety standards
• Follow food safety and sanitation standards, including changing all sanitizer buckets as required and cleaning/rinsing equipment throughout the shift.
• Wash and disinfect appliances, display cases, work surfaces, floors, and walls.
• Receive, organize, and FIFO deliveries; maintain orderly dry storage, walk-in cooler, and freezer areas
• Report shortages, damages, or delivery issues promptly to the manager on duty (MOD)
• Collect and dispose of all trash in a clean and timely manner.
• Monitor the restroom for cleanliness and replenishment of cleaning supplies
• Assist in maintaining full stock of ingredients, paper goods and other operational supplies in all areas of the business
• Perform all duties with a strong sense of urgency, efficiency, and attention to detail.
• Follow all instructions from the MOD and adhere to company policies, procedures, food safety standards, and cleanliness requirements.

Special Projects/Tasks

• On rare occasions travel to support other F&B locations as required by the business need.

Requirements

Availability

• Open & flexible availability, including but not limited to evenings, overnights, and weekends as well as Holidays.
• Availability to consistently work weekends, special projects, drops/releases or as the business' needs require.

Licenses/Certificates

• A valid and current Food Handlers License from the Department of Health or ServSafe Food Handlers Certificate.

Experience

• 1+ years of experience as a Porter, Dishwasher
• 6 months+ in a custodial, cleaning is preferred but not required
• 6 months+ in the Food & Beverage industry is preferred but not required

Skills/Abilities

• Ability to lift and move up to 30lbs.
• Ability to perform standard tasks that are related to retail operations including but not limited to, bending, twisting, and climbing ladders/step stools.
• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
