Job summary

The Lonestar Truck Group and TAG Truck Centers have built an excellent reputation within the heavy truck industry. The Porter role supports the Service Department by moving vehicles around the lot and retrieving vehicles for customers when service is needed or completed.

The position requires reliable driving, careful attention to vehicle appearance, and clear communication with service staff and customers.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, road signs, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, supervisor and co-workers.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicles for service by placing mats and plastic to protect interiors and communicate issues to service personnel.
• Move vehicles not currently being serviced and keep an orderly area for easy location and movement.
• Use good judgement and safe driving while being courteous to customers.
• Shuttle customers to their homes or places of business and pick them up after service completion.
• Maintain the vehicle’s appearance and notify the manager if servicing is needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Purpose of Position: The Porter works with the Service Department moving vehicles around the dealership lot and retrieving vehicles to and from customers when service is needed or completed

Essential Job Functions:

• Preparing vehicles to be service by putting down mats and plastic to protect interiors and communicating to service personnel of issues with the vehicle.
• Moving vehicles not currently being serviced and keeping an orderly area so that vehicles can be easily found and moved.
• Using good judgement and safe driving skills while being courteous to customers.
• Shuttling customers to their homes, places, of business or designated aera and then picking them up after their vehicle is serviced in a timely manner.
• Maintaining the vehicle’s appearance and notifying the manager if the vehicle requires servicing.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/ Abilities:

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, road signs, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, supervisor and co-workers.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Preferred Education:

• Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.

Preferred Experience:

• Six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Valid Drivers License
