Job summary

GCHP is seeking a Porter to maintain grounds, interior and exterior common areas, vacant apartments, sidewalks and alleyways to keep the property clean and safe. The Porter also assists in light maintenance when needed.

Education: High School diploma or GED. 1–2 years of housekeeping experience preferred but not required. Must be well-organized, with dependable transportation and a valid driver’s license. Follow directives from the manager and maintain safety protocols.

• Note and report repairs/safety hazards to the site manager.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Porter is responsible for keeping the grounds, interior, and exterior common areas, vacant apartments, sidewalks, and alleyways of the property in a clean and safe condition. The Porter also assists in other types of maintenance when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

Experience

• 1-2 years minimum previous general apartment or institutional housekeeping experience preferred, but not required

Abilities

• Must be a well-organized self-starter
• Knowledgeable of equipment (vacuum, mop, broom, etc.), chemicals, and general protocols used for cleaning
• Prompt and dependable with the ability to maintain a daily cleaning schedule
• Ability to understand and complete directives provided by the manager or lead Maintenance Technician
• Employee must have dependable transportation, a valid driver’s license, smartphone technology, and proof of auto insurance

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Note and report any repairs and safety hazards that they cannot resolve to the site manager.
