Job summary

Hatch Ltd. in Los Angeles, CA, invites applications for a Port Planning Intern to support the Infrastructure group on port, rail, and marine planning projects worldwide. You will assist multidisciplinary teams and gain hands-on experience in urban and transportation planning.

You will collect data, prepare reports and presentations, and contribute to models and maps while collaborating with global offices. This internship emphasizes learning, mentorship, and exposure to real-world infrastructure

Hatch is seeking a Port Planning Intern. Reporting to theInfrastructure group, you will support offices globally working from ourLos Angeles, CA office location.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in urban planning, transportation planning, or engineering
• Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale

As the successful candidate, you will:

• Apply planning principles to provide efficient, effective, economical, and timely solutions to port planning challenges in multivariable and multidiscipline project environments
• Conduct road, rail, and marine operations and infrastructure planning efforts in accordance with transportation planning standards, quality objectives, and client needs
• Collect, review, and analyze a variety of planning and operational data to meet project objectives
• Prepare reports, technical memos, presentations, schedules, maps, figures, diagrams, and models

You bring to the role:

• Commitment to achieving planning excellence
• Interest in the maritime industry, including global trade and supply chain trends; ocean carriers, Class I railroads, and trucking companies; and freight infrastructure and operations across a variety of modes, facilities, and commodities
• Passion for freight transportation planning
• Experience with ArcGIS is a plus
• Willingness to travel to various Hatch offices, project, and supplier sites subject to project requirements
• Previous co-op or internship experience is considered an asset

Compensation:

Range: $27 – $32
