Qualifications

• Inspects, dismantles, adjusts, replaces, and installs defective components; uses diagnostic tools to identify and resolve maintenance issues.
• Performs preventive maintenance and emergency repairs, maintains a clean and safe work environment, and provides maintenance support as directed.

Port NOLA seeks a Port Facility Maintenance Master Mechanic. This position is in the Facility Services department of the Port of New Orleans Maintenance Division.

This position serves as a Master Mechanic by performing the following tasks to include but not limited to: Repairs and maintains vehicles, machinery and equipment.

Diagnose. Repair. Maintain. Keep the Port Moving.

Three years of experience in the maintenance or repair of mobile equipment; or in the operation of heavy mobile equipment, industrial machinery, construction or maintenance equipment, or transportation or materials handling equipment.

Job Duties:

• Diagnoses, repairs, and maintains a wide range of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and engine-powered equipment, including gas, diesel, and propane engines, HVAC systems, generators, fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, and grounds-maintenance equipment.

• Inspects, dismantles, adjusts, replaces, and installs defective or worn components, including hydraulic hoses, pistons, valves, bearings, gears, cylinders, and other mechanical parts; uses diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve maintenance issues.

• Performs preventive maintenance and emergency repairs, including equipment testing, lubrication, tire changes, parts ordering, and repair documentation; maintains a clean and safe work environment and provides maintenance support as directed.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Promotional opportunity for a current permanent classified employee of the Port of New Orleans only.

Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group () and will be filled as a Port Facility Maintenance Master Mechanic.

Compensation: This position is eligible for premium pay of up to $1.50 per hour. (For each hour actually worked)

Work Schedule: The position currently consists of working forty (40) hour work week with overtime as necessary.
