Port of New Orleans is seeking a Port Facility Maintenance Master Mechanic in New Orleans, LA. The role centers on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a broad range of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment, including heavy mobile gear and HVAC systems.

It is a promotional opening for a current permanent classified employee, with a 40-hour week and overtime as needed. The position offers premium pay up to $1.50 per hour and requires three years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in the maintenance or repair of mobile equipment; or in the operation of heavy mobile equipment, industrial machinery, construction or maintenance equipment, or transportation or materials handling equipment.
• Diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and engine-powered equipment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses, repairs, and maintains a wide range of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and engine-powered equipment, including gas, diesel, and propane engines, HVAC systems, generators, fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, and grounds-maintenance equipment.
• Inspects, dismantles, adjusts, replaces, and installs defective components; uses diagnostic tools to identify and resolve maintenance issues.
• Performs preventive maintenance and emergency repairs, maintains a clean and safe work environment, and provides maintenance support as directed.
