Job summary

Louisiana Works in Baton Rouge is seeking a skilled Maintenance Repairer 2 to perform maintenance on agency buildings, facilities, and equipment. This role supports preventative maintenance and ensures compliance with safety standards and policies.

The incumbent will service HVAC systems, perform electrical and plumbing tasks, and assist with painting and repairs across statewide facilities. Drug screening and a background check are required for all applicants.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks in the preventative maintenance program in the Baton Rouge area and statewide.
• Service, repair, and replace mechanical equipment (pumps, chiller, A/C, air handling units, water heaters, steam coils, traps, etc.).
• Perform electrical installation and repairs within agency buildings (receptacles, panels, lights, cables).
• Perform plumbing duties (water lines, fixtures, toilets, valves, etc.).
• Perform painting tasks and surface prep.
• Maintain supplies, tools, and equipment in stock.

Office of Management and Finance Division: General Maintenance Location: East Baton Rouge Parish

The Maintenance Repairer 2 will perform skilled work involving the assembly, repair, and maintenance of agency buildings, facilities, and equipment. This position assists with preventative maintenance activities and ensures compliance with agency policies, procedures, regulations, and safety standards while performing assigned duties.

The Office of Management and Finance (OMF) oversees the agency’s fiscal operations, budgeting, procurement and contracts, human resources, and other key administrative functions. We provide the internal support and oversight needed to ensure efficient, accountable, and transparent agency operations. OMF does not deliver direct services to the public.

Job Details

• Performs assigned tasks in the preventative maintenance program in the Baton Rouge area and area offices located statewide.
• Servicing, repairing and replacing mechanical equipment such as pumps, chiller, A/C system, air handling units, hot water heaters, steam coils, traps and all other HVAC systems and equipment.
• Performs electrical installation and repairs within the agency buildings (receptacles, breaker panels, lights, ballasts, coax and IBM cables, MCC cables, and other electrical items.
• Performs plumbing duties. Installs, alters, maintains, and repairs water lines, fixtures, commodes, sinks, urinals, valves, make-up tanks, chill water lines, etc. Performs task related to door hardware, door locks and cubical locks. Maintains the key stock and lock stock.
• Performs painting tasks such as preparing surfaces to be painted and painting those surfaces, such as brick walls. Sheet-rock walls, equipment, etc.
• Works with Telephone, Electronic Tech as needed.
• Maintains supplies, tools, and equipment in agency stock
