Porcelain & Decorative Arts Museum Assistant

Under the direction of the Porcelain and Decorative Arts Museum Curator, museum assistants at the Garden are involved in customer service, facilities management, and museum functions such as engaging with visitors, monitoring the building and collections, and assisting the curator with research and other activities.

Key Responsibilities (percentage of time)

• 70%: Greeting and engaging with visitors at the welcome desk; monitoring buildings during work orders, special installations, and event preparation; ensuring buildings and art are protected; working with museum volunteer docents to create a welcoming and educational environment.
• 20%: Creating education materials for the museum; researching the collection to create well‑developed files on museum objects.
• 10%: Assisting the curator with other activities, including cleaning of objects and object handling; driving guests in golf carts if needed.
