Job Summary
Teach core psychology classes for the Social Sciences Department. This pooled position ensures a continuous reserve of qualified candidates for immediate review when a teaching opening arises. Applicants must reapply annually to maintain status.
Responsibilities
- Teach General Psychology (PSY 201, 202, 203) and/or Psychology and Human Relations (PSY 101).
- Act as a team member of the Social Science Department.
- Communicate objectives of each course taught, grade according to those objectives, and report student progress toward those goals.
- Work effectively with students and staff of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages and successfully interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of an education team.
- Establish and maintain opportunities for reasonable out‑of‑class contact with students.
- Prepare course descriptions, outlines, and other material related to courses taught.
- Maintain a class roll and teach in conformance with approved course outlines.
- Participate in Student Appraisal of Classroom Learning.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Psychology, or 27 graduate quarter hours in Psychology.
- Teaching experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively as a teacher and to operate as an effective member of a team.
Employment Requirements
Criminal background check – Level 4.
Compensation
Courses are paid on a per‑credit basis. New Part‑time Faculty begin at Step 1 of the pay scale, with steps rolled once per term, if eligible. Compensation per hour for meetings, training, advising, curriculum development, or other related work is outlined in the Part‑time Salary Schedule.
