Job summary

A local aquatic and fitness center is seeking a Pool Manager to oversee staff, ensure water quality, and maintain a safe swimming environment. The ideal candidate will be a certified Lifeguard with at least one year of swimming pool management experience. Strong organizational and leadership skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively, are essential. This role is for individuals who are energetic and motivated to create a positive atmosphere for patrons.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age 18, preferred 21 or older.
  • One year’s experience in swimming pool management.
  • Three years’ lifeguarding experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise facilities and lifeguard staff.
  • Enforce swimming pool rules and regulations.
  • Maintain water quality in accordance with health codes.
  • Conduct checks on facility and equipment.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of the facility.
  • Instruct personnel to provide courteous, helpful service to patrons.
  • Oversee cashier opening/closing procedures and daily logs.
  • Oversee conduct and discipline of patrons and staff; perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY AND DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE WORK

The Pool Manager is responsible for supervision activities, monitoring staff, and managing water chemistry at the Greenbelt Aquatic & Fitness Center to ensure a safe and high-quality swimming environment. The Pool Manager must also be a certified Lifeguard, bringing strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills, along with energy and motivation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Take precautions and preventive actions to ensure lifeguards are on duty whenever the pool is in use.

  • Provide adequate facility supervision.
  • Enforce established swimming pool rules and regulations appropriately.
  • Maintain pool and spa water quality in accordance with health code regulations.
  • Conduct facility and mechanical equipment checks before opening and closing.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary facility.
  • Enforce uniform requirements and standards of personal appearance.
  • Instruct personnel to provide courteous, helpful, and informative service to patrons.
  • Supervise cashier opening and closing procedures.
  • Keep a daily log of questions, problems, and situations for reference by other managers and full-time staff.
  • Oversee conduct and discipline of patrons and personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum age 18 (preferred 21 or older).
  • Prince George’s County Pool Operator’s License.
  • Current certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and Automated External Defibrillation (AED).
  • One year’s knowledge and experience of swimming pool management and supervisor skills and three years’ lifeguarding experience.
