Job summary

The University of Kansas Edwards Campus invites qualified scholars to join the HOPE program as part-time instructors. Instructors teach online (synchronous and asynchronous) and must hold an advanced degree, reporting to the HOPE Program Director.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in the cited discipline.
  • Three years of experience in the listed areas (CI, ID, motivation, performance, recruiting, org comms, org development, strategy, PM, systems, process improvement, resource allocation).
  • Two years of teaching experience in the listed areas.

Responsibilities

  • Assess student work based on developed curriculums and defined competencies.
  • Coach students on capstone projects.
  • Foster collaborative, interactive learning environments and accommodate diverse student needs.
  • Respond promptly to students to enhance their learning journey.

Skills

Three years of experience in CI/ID/HR/
Two years of teaching experience

Position Overview

The Human and Organization Performance Effectiveness (HOPE) program in the School of Professional Studies at the University of Kansas Edwards Campus invites qualified scholars and professionals to submit applications that will be reviewed by program faculty and placed in a pool for consideration for part time Instructor positions. Candidates should have expertise in continuous improvement, instructional design, human motivation, human performance, human resource recruiting, organizational communication, organizational development, organizational strategy, performance management, organizational systems, process improvement, or resource allocation. An instructor teaches online (synchronous and asynchronous) and must possess an advanced degree. Instructors report to the Program Director for HOPE.

The Master of Science in Human and Organization Performance Effectiveness (HOPE) is designed to prepare leaders to work across departments, functions, and roles to align individual performance with organizational goals. The HOPE program equips leaders with the essential skills to drive alignment, inspire teams, and achieve organizational success.

This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement between the University of Kansas and United Academics, United Academics of KU, AAUP, or AFT. UAKU is the exclusive representative. As the State of Kansas is a right to work state, you have the right to be a member or not be a member of a union without fear of personal or professional repercussions.

Instructors are instructional members of the faculty and are not eligible for tenure or promotion in rank. Primary role is instruction with no obligations to perform research or service. Instructors are placed in single term appointments, with renewal based upon unit needs and funding as well as performance that meets expectations, not to exceed two continuous semesters.

Due to complex state employment laws, the University of Kansas may be unable to hire fully remote workers for this position outside of Kansas. Job Description
100% Instructional Duties
  • Assessment of student work based on developed curriculums aimed at defined competencies. Curriculum includes a variety of assessments, most from real world examples.
  • Coaching students with capstone organizational-based projects.
  • Faculty will foster collaborative and interactive learning environments that encourage critical thinking and meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Timely responsiveness to students is expected to enhance the learning journey.
Required Qualifications

Master’s in Business Administration, Communication Studies, Education, Human Resources, Instructional Design, Leadership Studies, Organizational Development, or Public Administration, or a similar discipline from a regionally accredited institution.

  • Three years of experience in continuous improvement, instructional design, human motivation, human performance, human resource recruiting, organizational communication, organizational development, organizational strategy, performance management, organizational systems, process improvement, or resource allocation,
  • Two years of teaching experience (credit or professional development) in continuous improvement, instructional design, human motivation, human performance, human resource recruiting, organizational communication, organizational development, organizational strategy, performance management, organizational systems, process improvement, or resource allocation,

This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.

Preferred Qualifications

Evidence of prior success in teaching, in-person and/or online (e.g. course evaluations, supervisor ratings).

  • Experience with learning management systems.
  • Excellence in written communication skills as demonstrated in application materials.
  • Involvement in relevant industry associations and communities as demonstrated in application materials.
