Job summary

The City of Shoreview, MN is seeking part-time Pool Coordinators for the Tropics indoor water park and Shoreview Community Center. You will supervise staff, coordinate pool activities, and ensure safety and policy compliance during evening and weekend hours.

Qualifications

• 3 months Lifeguard experience.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to lift and move 50 pounds.

• Lead staff in-service trainings and orientations.
• Perform in accordance with appropriate safety & security standards.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned

• Knowledge of water chemistry
• Pool related certifications (for example, WSI, CPR/First Aid instructor, lifeguard instructor)*
• Pool Maintenance Experience

HOURS

• Monday-Wednesday: 5:45 pm - 8:45 pm
• Thursday: 5:30 pm - 8:45 pm
• Friday: 4:45 pm - 8:15 pm
• Saturday: 2:30 pm - 7:30 pm
• Sunday: 2:30 pm - 7 pm

Additional hours are available as lifeguard and swim instructor. Hours may include days, evenings, holidays, after hours pool parties and special events.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity.
• Work in warm and humid indoor pool environments with water temperatures 86 - 90 degrees.
• Requires the physical ability and stamina to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Ability to be exposed to noise (relating to the operation of equipment and machinery) and chemicals.
• Slippery surfaces walking on the pool deck.

• Ability to keep his/her composure with the public and co-workers in everyday, stressful and emergency situations.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to verbally and in writing communicate detailed and important instructions to staff and the public.
