The Pool Attendant position is a front line, seasonal summer role at the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center, focusing on safety, customer service, and facility maintenance (cleaning).
Pool Attendants are responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all facility users. They instruct and advise customers on the safe use of pools, play features, and equipment. They monitor the pool decks, grounds, locker rooms, and surrounding areas to maintain a safe environment, enforce all rules and policies, and prevent accidents. They also maintain cleanliness in these areas, provide customer service, answer questions from the public, dispatch riders from the top of the slide, and administer first aid when needed. They work under the supervision of a Pool Supervisor.
Pool Attendants participate in ongoing training and must maintain relevant certifications (listed below) throughout their employment. They should be able to work varied schedules, including mornings, weekends, and evenings, with a minimum of 20 hours per week. Additional duties may be assigned.
Required certifications include CPR/AED and First Aid (American Red Cross preferred). Candidates must demonstrate basic swimming skills, have a desire to train as a Lifeguard and/or Swim Instructor, and possess effective verbal communication skills. A Swimming Skills Evaluation must be successfully completed prior to hiring.
Experience: Prior experience working with youth is preferred.
Education: High school student, at least 16 years old.
