Job description

Join to apply for the Wading Pool Attendant - Parks Temporary role at City of Grand Island.

Perform a variety of duties in the maintenance of City park wading pools, including water testing and recording.

Essential Functions
  • Display honest, trustworthy, and ethical behavior when dealing with internal and external customers. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance.
  • Clean pools of foreign debris and clean pool decking.
  • Test pool water chemistry, record readings, and add chemicals as required.
  • Work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, during mornings, afternoons, and evenings.
  • Use proper safety precautions in all work performed.
  • May perform semi-skilled and skilled tasks involving maintenance and repair of park wading pools.
  • Perform basic carpentry work and painting for recreational facilities.
  • Communicate unsafe conditions to supervisors.
  • Assist in other department sections as necessary.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Knowledge Of
  • Methods, techniques, and procedures related to assigned responsibilities.
  • Traffic laws, ordinances, and rules.
  • Uses of equipment, power tools, and hand tools.
Ability To
  • Operate vehicles safely and effectively.
  • Be attentive to detail.
  • Work effectively without close supervision.
  • Use hand tools, mechanical equipment, and power tools safely and efficiently.
Supplemental Information

Experience: No specific experience required; a combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge and abilities is acceptable.

Training: Must be 18 years or older; ability to read and write at a successful job performance level.

License or Certification: Valid driver's license required; must maintain insurability as per the city's insurance provider. View driver eligibility requirements.

Working Hours: Vary between 6:30 am - 8:30 pm, including split shifts, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Duration: May through Labor Day.

Salary: Starting at the entry level of the city's salary table, with potential consideration for experience.
