Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services is seeking a Sleep Technologist to perform polysomnography acquisitions and scoring during 12-hour night shifts at our Sleep Center in New Mexico. The role includes patient education, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with Sleep Center physicians to ensure accurate results.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of NBRC-accredited educational program.
  • NM Respiratory Therapist license with option to obtain RPSGT in 2 years.
  • BLS required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs polysomnography acquisitions per protocols and monitors signal quality.
  • Scores sleep testing and generates study reports.
  • Documents observations to facilitate scoring and interpretation.
  • Fits positive airway pressure masks.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots Sleep Center equipment.
  • Educates patients about sleep testing and orients them to the Sleep Center.
  • Communicates with Sleep Center physicians regarding patients and procedures.
  • Applies electrodes per physician orders and procedures.
  • Decides on therapy applications in consultation with Supervisor.
  • Analyzes polysomnograms and prepares studies for storage/archiving.
  • Trains for scoring sleep studies.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs polysomnography acquisitions, per departmental protocols while monitoring signal quality.
  • Performs scoring of sleep testing under the and generates study reports.
  • Document routine observations per department policy to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
  • Perform routine positive airway pressure mask fitting.
  • Maintains, cleans, calibrates, and troubleshoots Sleep Center equipment.
  • Educates patients regarding sleep testing and orients them to the Sleep Center.
  • Communicates with Sleep Center physicians regarding their patients and / or testing procedures.
  • Applies electrodes per physician ordered montage and departmental procedure.
  • In consultation with the Supervisor makes decisions regarding application of appropriate therapy.
  • Analysis of polysomnograms.
  • Prepares sleep studies for record storage and/or archiving.
  • Trains for scoring sleep studies
Other duties to be performed as assigned:
  • Attends meetings and in-services as required.
  • Functions as an effective team member.
  • Other functions as required.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completion of Accredited educational program accredited by NBRC - National Board of Respiratory Care.License/Credentials:NM Respiratory Therapist license (RRT-SDS or CRT-SDS) with the option to obtain RPSGT in 2 years
  • BLS required.
