Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services seeks a Sleep Technologist to perform polysomnography, scoring sleep studies, and assist in preparing reports. You will fit PAP masks, maintain equipment, and educate patients under physician supervision at our New Mexico Sleep Center.

The role requires NBRC-accredited training, NM Respiratory Therapist license or equivalent, and BLS. Night shifts with generous benefits are offered by Presbyterian Healthcare Services.

Responsibilities

• Duties performed under supervision of a Licensed Physician; acquire polysomnography data per protocols.
• Score sleep studies and generate reports.
• Document observations to aid scoring and interpretation.
• Fit positive airway pressure masks as needed.
• Maintain and troubleshoot sleep center equipment.
• Educate patients about sleep testing and orient them to the center.
• Communicate with Sleep Center physicians regarding patients and testing.

Work Shift: 12 Hour Nights (United States of America)

Responsibilities

• Duties to be performed under general supervision of a Licensed Physician. Performs polysomnography acquisitions, per departmental protocols while monitoring signal quality.
• Performs scoring of sleep testing under the and generates study reports.
• Document routine observations per department policy to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
• Perform routine positive airway pressure mask fitting.
• Maintains, cleans, calibrates, and troubleshoots Sleep Center equipment.
• Educates patients regarding sleep testing and orients them to the Sleep Center.
• Communicates with Sleep Center physicians regarding their patients and / or testing procedures.
• Applies electrodes per physician ordered montage and departmental procedure.
• In consultation with the Supervisor makes decisions regarding application of appropriate therapy.
• Analysis of polysomnograms.
• Prepares sleep studies for record storage and/or archiving.Trains for scoring sleep studies
• Note: this position cannot provide direct or general supervision for Technician or Trainee

• Attends meetings and in-services as required.
• Functions as an effective team member.
• Other functions as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Completion of Accredited educational program accredited by NBRC - National Board of Respiratory Care.

License/Credentials

• NM Respiratory Therapist license (RRT-SDS or CRT-SDS) with the option to obtain RPSGT in 2 years
• BLS required.
