Job summary

The Polysomnographic technologist at the Medical University of South Carolina Sleep Center in Charleston provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders, including in-center and home sleep apnea testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and direct patient education.

The position requires registration in sleep technology or eligibility to sit for the registry within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 3 years of experience working with sleep patients.
• State Licensure and/or professional certification requirements may be required depending on the position.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of a physician, administers various sleep studies to diagnose the type and extent of sleep disorders.
• Performs routine patient assessments, scores sleep records, documents other test results, and collects and transmits biological specimens for analysis.
