Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina Sleep Center in Charleston seeks a Polysomnographic technologist to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders, including in-center and home sleep apnea testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and direct patient education.

The ideal candidate should be registered in sleep technology or eligible to sit for the registry within 6 months of hire; minimum 4 years of experience with sleep patients; current BLS required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 4 years of experience working with sleep patients.
  • State licensure and/or professional certification requirements may be required depending on the position.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of a physician, administers various sleep studies to diagnose the type and extent of sleep disorders.
  • Performs routine patient assessments, scores sleep records, documents other test results, and collects and transmits biological specimens for analysis.
