Job summary

CGVAMC in Asheville, NC, seeks a Medical Instrument Technician (MIT) to independently operate and monitor neurodiagnostic equipment and provide patient care in CPAP, Home Sleep Testing, and Nighttime Sleep clinics.

Preferred candidates have strong knowledge of sleep disorders, the ability to summarize polysomnographic data, and experience briefing hospital staff. The role supports rotating shifts as needed, including weekends.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of sleep disorders and polysomnography concepts.
• Ability to summarize and report polysomnographic data in narrative form.
• Knowledge of event characteristics (respiratory, cardiac, sleep stages) and appropriate action.
• Ability to brief and orient hospital staff including physicians.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor neurodiagnostic equipment in CPAP, Home Sleep Testing, and Nighttime Sleep clinics.
• Provide patient care and support in sleep disorder services.
